about

A song for / inspired by the Advent season

lyrics

the days grow darker in more ways than one
the world’s been turning away from the sun
hope is a match strike, hope is a flame,
flickering underneath the weight of the wait

when it seems like the world is all carts,
and the horses are missing.
in a season where quieter hearts
are needed to listen,
to words indiscernible ‘neath the cacophony,
i’ve an insatiable need for delivery.

we take advantage, take issue, take for granted
we’ve taken our leave from reflecting on what’s happened
hope’s not a metaphor, hope’s not a medicine
hope is a seed, we are gardens of sin
had we taken heed we might not feel so abandoned
